Carrano lost her beloved son, Tristan Barhorst, in 2020 when the 10-year-old was struck by a car and killed after buying a treat from an ice cream truck in Wallingford, Connecticut.

“He was an old soul. He was kind of empathetic, loving, thoughtful, selfless, smart, incredibly funny, extremely athletic, thankful and creative,” Carrano told Fox News Digital.

“There are not enough words to describe what he was and the hole that we’re left with, with him being gone.”

Doyle ultimately checked into a $98-a-night hotel room late Tuesday, after enduring a compounding crisis of extreme heat and no power for more than a week with about 200 other seniors at an independent living facility in the Kingwood community.

“There’s no air circulating. It’s just stifling and it’s sort of tough to breathe,” he told CNN before returning to his apartment when power was restored Thursday afternoon. “I just couldn’t take it anymore.”

During the outage, a generator powered one elevator and a large, air-conditioned lounge at the complex – a lifeline for many who are dependent on electric wheelchairs and scooters to get around and oxygen machines for pulmonary disease. At times, as many as 40 residents sought refuge in the lounge. Others remained in their stifling apartments. Some stayed with relatives.

“A friend just turned 95 about a month ago,” Doyle said. “Another friend of mine is over 90 and quite a few of us are all over 80. It’s tough. You’re not as spry as you used to be.”

A new study from UCLA found that an AI tool identified prostate cancer with 84% accuracy — compared to 67% accuracy for cases detected by physicians, according to a press release from the university.

Unfold AI, made by Avenda Health in California — a software recently cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration — uses an AI algorithm to visualize the likelihood of cancer based on various types of clinical data.

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

In the study, a team of seven urologists and three radiologists analyzed 50 cases where tumors had been removed, looking for signs of residual cancer.

A few months later, the AI software performed the same analysis.
